PLURAL NOUNS IN ENGLISH

THEORY: HOW TO MAKE PLURAL NOUNS 1

A noun names a person, place, thing, or idea.

we usually add  - S

  • bottle – bottles  (botellas)
  • cup – cups (tazas)
  • pencil – pencils
  • desk – desks (mesas)
  • sticker – stickers (pegatinas)
  • window – windows
 ch, x, s, ss, sha, or s sounds, add -ES (TODAS LAS SIBILANTES)

  • box – boxes (cajas)
  • watch – watches (reloj de pulsera)
  • moss – mosses (musgo)
  • bus – buses
 (DE -F O -FE A -VES)

  • wolf – wolves (lobos)
  • wife – wives (esposas)
  • leaf – leaves (hojas)
  • life – lives (vidas)   - NO CONFUNDIR CON LIVE, QUE ES EL VERBO VIVIR
 (IRREGULARES PORQUE CAMBIAN)

  • child – children
  • woman – women
  • man – men
  • mouse – mice (ratón)
  • goose – geese (ganso, oca)
  • PERSON-PEOPLE
 (ACABA EN Y, pueden pasar dos cosas:
                -si la -y va precedida de consonante: SE TRANSFORMA EN -IES )
                -si la -y va precedida de vocal: se AÑADE -S

 (MISMA FORMA, NO CAMBIA)
